Zelensky-Mitsotakis, Parallel Lives

After the political slap that Zelensky received at the White House during a live broadcast, the question is what stance Mitsotakis will take.

Will he stand once again on the “right side” of history as he did three years ago, declaring war against Russia? In other words, will he align with the EU in support of Zelensky or with the US against Zelensky?

Mitsotakis will face a strategic dilemma. If he aligns with the EU, he risks facing the wrath of the American president. In the new geopolitical environment that is shaping up, there is no decorum or international law. There is only respect for raw power.

He has to simultaneously address the following pressing issues: the rail tragedy in Tempi, the Ukrainian crisis, Turkey, the LGBTQ agenda, illegal immigration, and inflation. Acute political crises of his own making. Can he withstand a conflict with the American president?

As a deep connoisseur of history, he will likely choose once again the “right side” of history. Aligning with the EU seems more likely as it fits perfectly with Mitsotakis’ political DNA and the longstanding commitments he has made towards it.

A 180-degree geopolitical pivot in favor of the US and a frontal clash with the EU seems inconceivable for a politician who has roughly the same political training as Zelensky. However, outside the arrogant bubble in which Mitsotakis lives, great opportunities for Hellas are unfolding in the Black Sea, in territories that once thrived with Hellenic cultural, economic, and demographic presence.

It is a significant opportunity for Hellas to claim territories in areas temporarily controlled by the Ukrainian state as compensation for the weapon systems Mitsotakis sent. In this way, it could replicate Trump’s American precedent, who demands rare earths in exchange for American aid to Ukraine.

We are not asking for the return of our money and weapon systems, but we demand the lands of our Ancestors, such as Odessa and Mariupol. Mariupol and Odessa must become Hellenic again.

In these areas, which are under formation and dispute, Hellenic principalities could be declared, and they could enter into agreements with Hellas, forming a Hellenic Commonwealth.

After the rejection of Trump’s peace proposal by Zelensky, a window of opportunity opens for the complete collapse and dissolution of the Ukrainian state.

From Hellas’ perspective, the goal in the temporarily Ukrainian territories is to continue the war in the east, to stop American and European aid, and to initiate territorial claims from Poland, Slovakia, Belarus, Hungary, Moldova, and Romania, so that Ukrainian forces are bogged down on multiple fronts; thus the Hellenic troops can comfortably land in Odessa and nearby areas, liberate them, and annex them to the Hellenic core.

The possibility of the Ukrainian state dissolving into its constituent parts is increasingly being voiced by analysts internationally. Neighboring countries that until recently were helping Ukraine, such as Poland, will seize whatever they can if given the opportunity.

It is a significant chance for us to finally be on the right side of History, despite and against the criminal mistakes made by Mitsotakis.
