As we had predicted, the
"peacekeeper" Trump has today opened the curtain on a new theater of
war against Iran by ordering airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen.
It should be noted that the Houthis had
temporarily halted their own attacks, but resumed them because Israel again
banned the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Thus, the compassionate Trump, instead of pressuring Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, continues to promote the mass displacement of Palestinians somewhere in Africa.
And because this was not pleasing at all to the Houthi rebels, they resumed their own attacks.
Trump announced American bombings against the Houthis, threatening Iran not to assist them or they would regret it.
The problem is that Iran, having suffered a strategic defeat in Syria (the fall of Assad) and in Lebanon (the weakening of Hezbollah), may now lose two more allies, crucial for its regional security: the Houthis and Iraq.
If the Shia Houthis are defeated, there
will be strikes inside Iraq against the pro-Iranian Shia network.
American leaders made the strategic mistake in 2003 of overthrowing Saddam Hussein. They quickly realized they were offering an unexpected strategic gift to Iran, as the new state of Iraq transformed into an Iranian protectorate.
Now, however, American leaders are sensing
Iranian weakness and want to win the battle for influence within Iraq.
Iran does not have many options; it must respond dynamically, otherwise it will lose all its strategic footholds, and all the lines of forward defense that it has painstakingly built over many years will collapse.
A smart diplomatic move by Iran would be to demand from Russia to participate in the diplomatic negotiations regarding Ukraine, thereby linking the outcome of the Ukrainian front with the Iranian war front.
Iran helped Russia with weapon systems on
the Ukrainian front, and now it must demand that the Ukrainian issue not be
resolved without receiving sufficient security guarantees that Iran will not face
a Western military attack.
Trump is not generally interested in peace.
Because he is influenced and controlled by the Zionist lobby, he will try to
embroil the U.S. in a war against Iran, which is why he is so keen to close the
Ukrainian front as quickly as possible.
If Trump were genuinely interested in
peace, he would be pressing Israel to stop the genocide in Gaza rigorously.
Thus, he would have a political excuse towards the Houthis to request a
ceasefire.
He did not do so because he wants the war in Gaza to continue on the terms imposed by Israel.
